For most dry eye sufferers, wearing moisture chamber glasses will be sufficient to relieve dry eye symptoms and allow them to carry on a normal life.
But if your dry eye symptoms are severe due to adverse environmental or lifestyle conditions, you may need to seek additional forms of self help relief.
My dry eye condition is worse than it has ever been before
I am writing this blog post in the midst of a heatwave. Not only are temperatures at record levels but also the air in the atmosphere is very dry.
As a result, my dry eye condition is almost unbearable. Worse than it has ever been before. It dominates my life and is severely limiting my ability to work at my computer.
I experimented with putting in eye drops before wearing moisture chamber glasses
My severely dry eyes prompted me to experiment with applying eye drops before putting on my moisture chamber glasses.
I was very pleased with the result because the moisture chambers really slowed down the evaporation of eye moisture and as a result my eyes felt comfortable and moisturised.
The benefit from the eye drops lasted for about two hours when I wore my moisture chamber glasses, whereas I had needed previously to apply drops several times each hour.
Conclusion and recommendations
If your eyes are producing insufficient tears or no tears at all, combining periodic use of eye drops with use of moisture chamber glasses can be highly effective.
The only note of caution is to wait a couple of minutes after applying eye drops before you start to wear your moisture chamber glasses. This will minimise lens fogging and stop the sticky artificial tear gel from spattering the back of the lenses whenever you blink.

Author's note: Eyeseals
If you suffer from dry eyes at night, Eyeseals sleep goggles will help to keep your eyes comfortable and moisturised.
Because the goggles mould to the contours of your face, they virtually eliminate tear evaporation.
You can increase their effectiveness further by applying eye drops at bed time just before you put on the goggles for the night.
