In December, we often get some glorious sunny days when it's great to get out for a winter walk.

Last Sunday (5 December) was a case in point and we chose to go for a hike on Dartmoor. The visibility was terrific and as a result, the Moor offered wonderful panoramas of bracken and heather, tors, and a picturesque network of small pasture fields.

Due to the heatwave in England, the Met Office has issued an extreme heat warning for the first time ever.

On Saturday we enjoyed a walk across the sea front from Dawlish Warren to Dawlish. As anyone who is familiar with this stretch of the Devon coastline knows, it is vulnerable to strong winds and high seas - famously during the Great Storm of 2014.

June 27 was no exception! There was a strong, gusty wind from the south west and the waves were crashing high on the sea wall. Exciting conditions but hardly ideal for a gently seaside stroll.
